Boro is essentially the practice of using a simple running stitch (a sashiko stitch) to reinforce a textile item using spare or would-be-discarded scraps of fabric. It is a practice that grew out of necessity in medieval Japan, and has evolved, four centuries later, into a distinctively gorgeous textile artform.
Nancy has used the Boro stitch to decorate some denim ( the leg of an old pair of jeans) to create a beautiful and useful pouch to hold all you sewing essentials. On the day it is hoped that you will complete the inner set of pockets and will be well on the way to decorating the outer layer of your pouch. You will leave with sufficient preparation and instructions on how to complete your work.
