Long Arm Quilter

I can understand that not everyone wants their quilt to be 'longarm’ quilted but your ladies are just brilliant. They don't simply think about the best results, they research them. (And the antique quilt that they're working on at the moment is going to be superb!) I'm astonished how quickly they've turned each of mine around - and who else would have suggested the 'splat' pattern and variegated thread that they did for my first one. They really are fantastic. And another thought, you almost need to show customers the back of their quilts first, for them to see how really beautiful the quilting is.

We are able to offer a prompt and professional longarm quilting service and are very fortunate in having two outstanding operators who genuinely treat each quilt as if it were their own. (Better than that, they say). They devote a high level of care and thought to each individual project, and go to considerable lengths to ensure the best possible finish.

We have hundreds of patterns, and far more than a hundred threads, for you to choose from.

We are proud of the fact that we have been sent quilts from as far away as Egypt and South Korea to longarm, but the best recommendation for the quality of their work will always be the reaction of our customers.

. . . it began with scrap fabric (and) I had it long-arm quilted at Midsomer Quilting. The pattern is called ‘Tempest’ which I thought rather suited the slightly nautical feel of the quilt. Midsomer Quilting did a fantastic job with it. It lies perfectly flat against the wall, the corners are totally square, the binding is dead straight and unpuckered, which says a lot about silk purses and sows’ ears. I am really happy with it. AR

Would you like to have your quilt ‘longarmed’ by us?

You will need an appointment - please ring 01761239333 to book a slot.

When you let us have it, the three parts (the pieced top, the batting/wadding and the backing) should be separate.

VERY IMPORTANT! If you are providing the backing, make sure that both it and the wadding/batting are at least 8" wider and 8" longer than your quilt top. If you have already trimmed the wadding and backing it may not be big enough for us to proceed.

Please DO NOT BASTE your quilt. If you have basted it, but are able to separate the layers, it can then be quilted. However, if you have ‘spray-glue basted’ the layers we shall be unable to undertake the longarming as they will be sticky.

Please ensure that all seams in the quilt top are secure, and that any loose threads have been removed.

Please, if necessary, stay-stitch around the edge within the ¼" seam allowance, (and it would be necessary if there are seams that could possibly separate during the longarming).

BINDING We don’t offer a basting service but binding is an optional additional service. Let us know if you are interested.

We will be pleased to advise you in advance of the likely charge there will be to process your quilt though there may be a small additional charge if, for instance, we have to remove loose threads; stay-stitch around top; join backing or carry out small repairs such as securing gaps or loose stitching.

Getting your quilt to us:

Ideally, you would deliver it to the shop in person. Alternatively you can post it to us and when we receive it we will contact you to let you know it has arrived safely and to discuss your requirements. We will also give you an up-to-date indication of the likely time for completion.

If you have any particular concerns, please call and tell us about them.

Returning your quilt to you:

It would be good if you could collect it in person. (Do note our opening days/hours.) Alternatively we could post the completed quilt back to you.

We have successfully undertaken some major restoration work on quilts but, if for any reason, we do not feel able to do your quilt justice, we will tell you.

If you require any more information please ring the shop on 01761239333 or email De@midsomerq.com.

I love this hobby, but when it comes to quilting it’s daunting! I am a great fan of your longarm quilting service and I’ve already had 23 done by you! Your service is wonderful as it does the hard work of putting the backing and wadding on, without creases or tucks, and the range of patterns available is fantastic. Yvonne and Lynne have been so helpful suggesting backings, threads and patterns and I have never been disappointed with the finished results. It means I have beautiful finished quilts that don’t join the UFO pile! And I can get going on the next project!
